Building permits for projects worth an estimated $18.4 million were approved last month by the city of Gainesville.
Of that, 35 were for new, single-family homes worth $5.9 million and four were for new commercial construction valued at $3.5 million.
The remainder of the permits were for associated work such as additions and repairs, remodeling, electrical work, plumbing, heating and air, etc.
