A total of 121 building permits were issued by the city of Gainesville last month – 64 for commercial projects and 46 for residential work with the remainder for such things as electrical, plumbing and HVAC work.
The expected cost of the commercial projects is three million dollars. The residential work price tag is $3.1 million. Of the commercial projects, two were for $420,00 worth of new construction and the cost of the new residential work includes more than $2.5 million for ten new single-family homes.
In addition, between the two categories, remodeling, additions, and repairs accounted for spending totaling $1.6 million.
