Gainesville reports approving 155 building reports in August for construction expected to cost $18.8 million.
That includes 86 commercial permits totaling $13.4 million. Of that, two were for new construction equaling $10.4 million.
On the residential side of the ledger, there were 52 permits okayed for $4.8 million in construction. That includes 14 permits for new single-family homes expected to cost $4.2 million to build.
The remainder of the permits in both categories includes such things as heating, air conditioning, and plumbing permits as well as electrical, additions and repairs, etc.
