*A man is headed to prison for the next 4 years after laundering $5.3 million dollars from Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. The 66-year-old former accountant, Ronald Deabler, was found guilty of laundering millions of dollars from the hospital system back in 2023. Authorities say Children’s was duped into sending the money to Deabler’s bank account, and then Deabler agreed to distribute the stolen funds for a fee.
*A church youth group in Snellville say they’re blessed to be alive after their bus caught fire. Youth pastor Horacio Torres at Iglesia de Dios Ebenezer, who tells Atlanta News First as he describes watching their charter bus burst into flames with 32 children inside. Torres says each passenger was able to safely escape before the blaze fully erupted. The group was headed back from camp in South Carolina.
*Some residents in Cobb County are voicing their frustrations over President Trump’s visit to Wheeler High School this week. FOX5 reports roughly half of a packed crowd walked out of the Cobb County school board meeting last night when members played a video recap of Trump’s visit. The board was accused of turning what was supposed to be an educational event into a campaign rally for midterm elections. Superintendent Chris Ragsdale called it a historic milestone.
