Middle of the night dispute on Lanier, including death threat, ends with Gville man’s arrest

Hall County deputies arrested a Gainesville man early Friday after a dispute at a boat dock escalated into threats of violence, including death, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies first responded around 1:15 to a call about a disturbance at a dock on Lake Road off White Sulphur Road. Investigators say David Blount, Jr., 46, approached a boat occupied by a 47‑year‑old man and a 46‑year‑old woman and began shaking the vessel’s Bimini top.

When the male victim stepped off the boat to confront Blount, deputies say Blount pushed him toward the water. The complainants declined to pursue charges at that time, and deputies left the scene.

Around 3:15 a.m., deputies were called back after Blount allegedly returned and threatened to kill the female victim if she contacted law enforcement again. Deputies obtained arrest warrants and later took Blount into custody at his nearby residence.

Blount is charged with terroristic threats and acts, simple battery, simple assault and disorderly conduct. He was transported to the Hall County Jail, where he remains held without bond on one of the charges.
