A Lithonia man is free on bond after his arrest last week by a Hall County sheriff’s deputy who says he and another motorist were racing on I-985 at 110 mph at times. The arrest was made in the Friendship Road area.
HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:
“The incident occurred just after (midnight Friday) as the deputy was on routine patrol. He observed two vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed, weaving in and out of traffic, in an obvious contest for speed. The deputy activated his emergency equipment and followed both drivers as they continued to speed southbound on Lanier Parkway. The vehicles were each clocked at around 110 mph. One driver eluded the deputy, but the other, identified as Rouvens Regisme, 24, stopped.
As a result of the investigation, Mr. Regisme was charged with speeding, racing on highway or streets, reckless driving, open container violation and DUI-alcohol/less safe, all misdemeanor offenses.
Mr. Regisme posted a bond of $7,260, and he was released from the Hall County Jail on Sunday…”
