Gainesville Mayor Sam Couvillon is one of 107 people recently appointed to state boards, commissions and authorities by Gov. Brian Kemp.
Couvillon was named to the Board of Directors of the Georgia Emergency Communications Authority.
A Gainesville doctor is also among the appointees. Monnica Newton of the Northeast Georgia Physicians Group was selected for the Georgia Maternal and Infant Health Advisory Commission.
Two other people with Gainesville area ties are also among those tapped by the governor.
Stacy Ellis Hodges of Cumming, Vice President of Audi Atlanta, will serve on the Georgia Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Advisory Board and Brook Kubik, a part-time instructor at the University of North Georgia, was named to the Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities.
