The annual state-mandated summer burn ban in Hall and 53 other north and central Georgia counties has ended effective today. The prohibition is in effect in these counties each summer because smoke may affect ozone levels in urban areas, according to state officials.
Hall County Fire Rescue (HCFR) reminds us, however, that while outdoor burning is now allowed it must be done with the proper permits. There are two of them: residential and land-clearing/commercial.
A residential burn permit is issued to anyone who need to clear their yards of leaves and limbs. To obtain a residential burn permit, visit www.hallcounty.org/196/Fire-Services and click the link at the top of the page to submit your information and receive a burn permit number. The land-clearing/commercial burn permit is regulated by state Environmental Protection Division (EPD) guidelines and requires burn pits that require an inspection by the Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office.
For questions or to schedule a land-clearing permit inspection, contact the Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office at (770) 531-6838.
