A Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) game warden was bitten Sunday by a drunk boater he was trying to help, according to DNR officials. It happened near Mary Alice Park on the Forsyth County side of the lake.
DNR reports say two officers were on routine patrol when they saw a personal watercraft idling in circles without an operator onboard. The kill switch lanyard was still attached, and a man was swimming nearby.
When the wardens tried to stop the craft, the man began trying to swim away. But the officers managed to stop him and while they were talking to him, they noticed a strong alcoholic beverage odor. And that, they say, is when he bit one of them on the arm as he tried to get away from them again.
He was eventually arrested but so far, his name and any charges have not been released.
