Lula man wanted by state patrol arrested in Hall Co.

A 65-year-old Lula man who was wanted by the state patrol in connection with a hit-and-run is free on bond following his recent arrest by Hall County Sheriff’s deputies.

A spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office says Timothy Jett was arrested Friday at a location in the 4900 block of Winder Highway.

Jett is charged with:

TAMPERING W/ EVIDENCE (MISD)
*
DUI – ALCOHOL/LESS SAFE
*
POSSESSION MARIJUANA LESS THAN 1 OZ. – VGCSA
*
OPEN CONTAINER VIOLATION WHILE OPERATING
*
LICENSE – TO BE CARRIED AND EXHIBITED

*
IMPROPER LEFT OR RIGHT TURN
*
OBEDIENCE TO REQUIRED TRAFFIC-CONTROL DEVICE
*
LICENSE – NOTICE OF CHANGE OF ADDRESS OR NAME
*
DUTY TO STOP AT ACCIDENT (HIT AND RUN, LEAVING THE SCENE)

According to the state patrol, Jett was traveling north on Thurman Tanner Parkway in the right lane on June 6, and a tractor-trailer was headed in the same direction in the left lane. However, Jett turned into the path of the truck, causing it to strike his car in the left side. He then turned onto I-985 North “in an attempt to flee the scene” but stopped near the Elachee Drive Overpass.

The state patrol report lists a Braselton address, 4986 Winder Highway, which apparently came from his driver’s license and led to the charge of failing to notify the state of a change of address.

But a sheriff’s office spokeswoman says jail records show a Lula address for Jett who was freed Saturday on bonds totaling $7,910.
