Lula man seriously injured in tree-cutting accident

We learned today of a tree-cutting accident last week that left a Lula man with serious injuries. It happened Thursday afternoon in the 4000 block of Skyline Drive.

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:

“Hall County sheriff’s…deputies responded to the scene just after 2 p.m. and found a Hall County Fire Rescue (HCFR) medical unit assisting the victim, who was identified as Ricky M.L. Loggins, 69. Employees of the tree service business were able to provide CPR prior to the arrival of emergency personnel.

The initial investigation determined Mr. Loggins was in a bucket truck, using a chain saw to remove a large limb from a tree on the property. The limb, which was attached to a rope, broke free from the tree and swung, landing on top of Mr. Loggins in the bucket truck and pinning him against the boom. At this time, the incident appears to be accidental.

Mr. Loggins was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center…”
