Keri Smith, the principal at Sandra Dunagan Deal Elementary School has been named a recipient of the Sandra Deal Excellence in Education Award by the Georgia Commission on Women.
Smith received the award recently at the State Capitol as part of Georgia Champions for Change Day.
The award celebrates educators who exemplify the values and dedication of the late Mrs.
Deal, Georgia’s former First Lady, whose lifelong passion for literacy and learning
impacted students across the state and is the namesake of Smith’s school.
“Smith’s commitment to fostering a love of reading and academic excellence in Hall County reflects the spirit of Mrs. Deal’s work,” a HCSD news release reads.
