Local Boys & Girls Club to benefit from World Cup

Through a partnership with the Atlanta World Cup Host Committee (AWCHC), Soccer in the Streets, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Georgia, the Gainesville club is one of several in the state benefiting from an initiative growing out of Atlanta’s World Cup involvement.

Georgia Magazine reports the AWCHC is working with the state Boys & Girls Clubs organization to put World Cup-related programs in 15 towns across the state.

The programs include mentorship opportunities, youth engagement events, soccer clinics, and equipment donations.

Kristine Steinmann, executive director of the Georgia Alliance for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Georgia, tells the publication the partnership is “life-changing,” noting that it makes high-quality soccer and mentorship accessible to more young people

The bottom line: It’s all about making soccer accessible, affordable, and inspiring to youth all over the state.
