Gas prices ready pretty steady in Hall County and statewide over the past week.
The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded in Hall County rose a penny to $3.28, while the statewide average also increased by one cent to $3.33, according to AAA. The national average, meanwhile, bumped up three cents to $3.59 since last Monday. All of this despite ominous overseas news, a pop in domestic gasoline demand, and oil prices rising to the mid-$80s per barrel, a AAA spokesman said.
“Renewed Ukrainian attacks on Russia’s oil infrastructure and increasing tension in the Middle East spiked oil prices recently,” Andrew Gross added. “And with the cost of oil accounting for roughly 60% of what we pay at the pump, there will likely be some upward pressure on prices.”
According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand rose from 8.72 to 9.23 million b/d last week.
