Little change in lingering drought

The drought stubbornly refuses to vacate Georgia as it continues to weaken week-by-week.

The only changes in its status are a tiny increase in the areas considered “abnormally” dry and a slight decrease in “moderately” dry areas, according to the drought monitor.

In our area, “abnormal” conditions rule except for portions of Hall, Habersham, White, Lumpkin and Dawson counties where there are pockets of “moderately” dry conditions.

The level of Lake Lanier, meanwhile, is virtually unchanged from last week, down a tenth of a foot to 1066.2.
