Each Friday through early November in cooperation with the Georgia Forestry Commission (GFC) we are providing an update on the changing leaves in our corner of the state for all you leaf-lookers.
This week, higher elevations are showing much better color with birches, sourwood, maple, poplar, and dogwood being the best for show. Lower elevations are also good with the “understory” trees and some maples exhibiting fair color.
And the forestry commission says the season is on track and should still peak during the last week in October and the first week in November.
PERCENTAGE OF LEAF CHANGE:
Above 3000’ – 21%
Below 3,000’ – 11%
