A Gainesville man, Stephen Lee Wilson, 53, was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Old Cornelia Highway Wednesday night and a Lawrenceville man has been charged in the death.
HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NEWS RELEASE:
“(About 10:30), deputies with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO)
were dispatched to the scene of the collision on Old Cornelia Highway just north of Shady
Valley Drive. When they arrived, they found two vehicles had been involved in a head-on
collision.
The driver of one vehicle (later identified as Wilson) was deceased. The driver of the other vehicle was
evaluated for injuries by Hall County EMS, but he refused medical treatment.
HCSO’s Accident Investigation Unit (AIU) also responded to the scene to conduct the
incident investigation. Preliminary details of the investigation determined the at-fault
driver, identified as Aman Panjwani, 24, was traveling northbound on Old Cornelia
Highway and missed a turn, making a U-turn in the vicinity of the crash site. As he
negotiated a curve in the road, Panjwani traveled into the oncoming lane and struck (Wilson’s) vehicle head on.
Panjwani has been charged with vehicular homicide in the second degree, failure to maintain
lane, driving on the wrong side of the road and tire requirements…”
