Lawn mower operator escapes serious injury when pickup hits mower

A Hall County man operating a riding lawn mower escaped serious injury Tuesday when a pickup struck the mower along Ledan Extension, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies responded to the crash around 5:20. The investigation showed the truck’s driver, a 63‑year‑old Gainesville man, was rounding a curve near Cha Co Road when he saw an oncoming vehicle traveling in the middle of the roadway. He swerved to avoid a collision with that vehicle and hit the mower.

The mower’s 25-year-old operator confirmed the truck driver’s account, and he told the deputies he was wearing a seat belt, which kept him on the mower during impact. He reported back and stomach pain, and EMTs checked him but he declined to be taken to a hospital.

The truck driver was not injured. His vehicle sustained minor damage, including a blown rear passenger‑side tire.

No citations were issued.
