A two-week investigation into illegal narcotics activity in Habersham County culminated
Tuesday and resulted in two arrests, seizure of two vehicles, a large quantity of drugs,
two firearms, and cash.
HABERSHAM CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE:
“…members of the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division
executed a search warrant for a home at 550 Kitchens Road outside Alto, resulting in the
arrests of Jonathan Clayton Burrell of Cornelia and Kateland Elaine Heffner of Cleveland.
The search and arrests resulted in deputies discovering large amounts of green, leafy
marijuana, as well as THC concentrates, vapes, gummies, and edibles, two firearms, and
a sum of money.
Burrell is charged with numerous felonies, including sale of controlled substance, two
counts of possession of a firearm or knife during certain crimes, three counts of
possession with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful
possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
Heffner is charged with numerous felonies, including sale of marijuana, two counts of
possession of a firearm or knife during certain crimes, three counts of possession of THC
with intent to distribute, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Burrell and Heffner were booked Tuesday night at the Habersham County Detention
Center in Clarkesville, where they remain.
The Habersham County Narcotics Division worked in conjunction with the Appalachian
Regional Drug Enforcement Office and Habersham County Sheriff’s Office Special
Operations Unit.”
