Drought conditions in Georgia worsened over the past week and the level of Lake Lanier continues to get lower.
The lake is down another third of a foot this week, according to the Corps of Engineers. The current reading: 1062.7. That’s 8.3 feet below full pool for this time of year.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Drought Monitor says the drought in Georgia grew so more with the drought-free parts of the state now covering 32% of it. Those areas are mostly in the southeast corner and the deep south along the Florida line.
