Members of the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) team who were instrumental in the successful recovery of a 12-year-old Gainesville girl who went missing from her home in late May were met in Atlanta with Gov. Kemp recently.
During the eight-week search for Maria Gomez-Perez, more than 70 HCSO employees were part of the operation, including investigators, forensic analysts, interpreters, patrol deputies and many others.
Sheriff Gerald Couch and several members of the local state legislative delegation also attended the meet-and-greet with Kemp and Georgia First Lady Marty Kemp.
The sheriff’s office, in posting about the meeting on Facebook, did not include any remarks the governor and his wife made to the group.
The pre-teen disappeared from her Gainesville home May 29 and was found two months later in Ohio with a 34-year-old man who had come to Gainesville to pick her up after the two met online.
