Juvenile neglect (update); Stabbing; Rape; Gville woman hit by car

*UPDATE: Gainesville Police said Friday the case of “juvenile neglect” we reported on Thursday has been referred to the state Division of Family and Children’s Services (DFCS). But a spokesman said that, to his knowledge, no arrests have been made, and that he had nothing new to offer about the conditions in which the boy was living. EARLIER STORY: Officers responding to a report of a medical emergency on Otila Drive say they found a 12-year-old boy living in unsanitary conditions there. 

*A 31-year-old woman, Shemante Shelae Shields, has been charged with aggravated assault after she allegedly stabbed a man “with a small knife,” according to Gainesville Police spokesman Kevin Holbrook. “…minor injuries, no medical attention needed.”

*Lt. Holbrook had no details Friday morning about the arrest of another woman, Ana Maria Linares-Calderilla, 38. Charges against her include Giving Convicts Items without Consent, Possession of Methamphetamine, Theft By Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of a Knife/Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.

*The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is investigating a reported rape. Spokeswoman B.J. Williams said Friday it was reported Thursday. “A deputy responded to the hospital to speak with the victim in this particular case,” Williams said. “She told him she was raped, but she could not remember much about the incident.” The case has been turned over to criminal investigators.

*A Gainesville woman was injured in Cornelia Thursday when she was struck by a car while sitting on a bench in front of a store at 250 Furniture Drive. The state patrol says Howell Reese Mendenhall, 22, Clarkesville, was DUI when his car left the road and struck Nereida Luviano, 26, who suffered “several” injuries.
