Judge refuses to toss indictment in Hall murder case

A motion by her attorneys to quash a murder indictment in the case of a Hall County woman charged with killing a four-year-old girl has been denied by a Superior Court judge.

Jessica Motes, who faces a possible death sentence if she is convicted, is accused of killing Autumn Fox a year ago and leaving her body in the trunk of a car found in the parking lot of the Sam’s Club in Oakwood.

Her attorney had argued that the indictment was too vague about how Motes allegedly killed the youngster and that the accusations were impossible to defend against.

But Judge Lindsay Burton disagreed and ruled the indictment is sufficient under Georgia law.
