Judge approves change of venue for trial of alleged Apalachee school shooter

A Barrow County judge Thursday okayed a change of venue for the trial of accused Apalachee High School shooter Colt Gray, and he has Columbia County in mind as a possible site for the trial. Columbia County is in east central Georgia and borders South Carolina.

Gray’s attorneys are seeking a change of venue because they don’t feel an impartial jury can be found in Barrow County because of the publicity surrounding the case.

Gray is accused of killing two teachers and two students at the school in September 2024.

Judge Nicholas Primm said he would like to start the trial in October or November.
