Jobless insurance claims in Hall & state up

First-time claims for unemployment insurance in Hall County and most of the rest of the state were up in April, according to the Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL).

In Hall County, there was an increase of 16.5 percent compared to March. Statewide, the increase was even larger – 20.8 percent.

A month earlier there was a 15.2 percent increase in Georgia and an increase of 3.5 percent in Hall County.

In the 13-county Georgia Mountains Region, which includes Hall and most other counties in northeast Georgia, the number of applications in April was up only slightly – 0.3 percent compared to a decrease of 4.6 percent in March.
