JEMC crews aiding with power restoration in Kentucky

Jackson EMC (JEMC) is assisting with power restoration efforts at Pennyrile Electric in south central Kentucky where tornadoes and straight-line winds caused widespread power outages. As of noon Monday, over 23,000 of their members, nearly half, are without power.

Fifteen Jackson EMC crew members left early Monday morning, taking several trucks and other equipment to help restore power.

Cooperation among cooperatives is one of the principles all co-ops share, a Jackson EMC official said.

“Cooperatives work to help each other. We’ve been fortunate to receive help during our times of need, and we also send crews and equipment to assist where needed. That’s cooperation among cooperatives, and it’s just what we do,” said Tommy Parker, vice president of operations.
