Jefferson man charged with ramming two GPD cars

GAINESVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT (GPD) NEWS RELEASE:

“Police responded to Browns Bridge Road and Pearl Nix Parkway around 9PM on February 12, 2024, after 911 callers stated a white Dodge Charger was sitting in the middle of the road. The callers were concerned for the well-being of the driver. 

Officers encountered James Edward Harrison, 39, who immediately began to be non-compliant. While officers attempted to assist Harrison, he refused all commands. Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation when Harrison put the car in gear and rammed two patrol cars. 

After a Taser deployment, Harrison was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody. Harrison has been charged with 4 counts of aggravated assault  on a police officer, possession of methamphetamine, and 3 counts of obstruction of an officers. Harrison was transported to the Hall County Jail after a brief stop at the hospital.”
