The Jackson County Board of Commissioners (JCBOC) denied a request Monday night for a 1,000-acre rock quarry in the southern part of the county.
The commission’s vote followed months of controversy surrounding Vulcan Materials’ plans. The vote was 5-1 with commission chairman Tom Crow casting the only vote against denying the request.
