Jackson Co. man jailed in Gville on 8 counts of aggravated assault

A Pendergrass man has been arrested in connection to a disturbance that occurred in May at a residence on Dorsey Peek Road in southeastern Hall County in which he allegedly attacked four people with a baseball bat and shot at them.

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:

Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies arrived at the residence around 7 p.m. on May 9 to investigate a reported aggravated assault.

They determined the suspect, identified as Daniel Nathan New, 37, had come to the residence to retrieve his vehicle.

While he was there, Mr. New began arguing with four adults (three men and one woman) at the scene. The verbal argument turned physical when New retrieved a baseball bat from his vehicle and began swinging it at the four victims. He then returned to his vehicle and began to leave the premises. Prior to leaving, he pulled a shotgun from the vehicle, fired one shot towards the victims and threatened that he would return. He then left the scene. No one was physically injured.

Arrest warrants were obtained for eight counts of aggravated assault (two per victim).

New was picked up Tuesday morning, July 16, at the Banks County Jail by HCSO Warrant Service Unit deputies and then booked at the Hall County Jail. He is being held without bond.”
