Inland port on schedule for 2026 opening

The inland port being built in Hall County by the Georgia Sports Authority (GPA) is on schedule for it’s planned opening next year.

An update on the project was included in the annual State of the Port address in Savannah Tuesday by GPA President & CEO Cliff Lynch.

During his address, Lynch noted that the Blue Ridge Connector (BRC), which is what it will be called, is located in one of Georgia’s fastest growing markets. The area’s population is expanding six times faster than the national average, driving increased consumer demand.

Containers moving between the Blue Ridge Connector and the Port of Savannah by rail will avoid a 600-mile roundtrip by truck, officials have said. The 104-acre facility will have a full capacity of 200,000 containers each year, which would avoid 120 million truck miles annually, he said.
