*The state’s school voucher program is off to a confusing start. The Governor’s Office of Student Achievement is expected to come out with a new list of eligible schools sometime in the New Year, after publishing several versions already and then starting over. Under the law, students who are attending a public school in the bottom 25-percent of achievement are eligible for a $6,500 voucher to attend private school. The Georgia Education Savings Authority now says the law could be interpreted to include any student in that school’s attendance zone, whether they attend the school or not.
*It’s the busiest time of the year for Amazon – and warehouse workers in Atlanta are threatening to walk off the job. Amazon delivery driver Trent Knight tells Atlanta News First that the drivers and warehouse workers feel underpaid and undervalued. More than 200 Atlanta area drivers have unionized under the Teamsters to seek help. The deadline set by the Teamsters was Sunday for negotiations to start. The workers could strike as soon as next week, while delivery demands climb for last minute gift buyers.
