Flights were cancelled or delayed, some government services such as tag and driver’s license renewals were unavailable, and many businesses suffered.
Here’s an account, published online, of how one Cumming business responded to Friday’s global IT outage, posted by a customer.
“This morning at 8:30 am, during my usual stop for a Caramel Frappuccino (at the Starbucks at Market Place, Cumming), I discovered that your POS system was down.
Despite this setback, your hospitality and customer care were evident.
A few customers, including myself, decided to wait inside, hopeful that the system would be back up soon. After about 15 minutes, although the system was still not operational, you kindly offered us complimentary coffee.
I am truly grateful to you and your staff for your hospitality and professionalism. Your kindness and attentiveness transformed a potential inconvenience into a delightful and memorable experience.
Thank you for your exceptional service and for going above and beyond!”
