Hoschton leads state in population growth; Oakwood is tops in Hall Co.

Hoschton added an estimated 1,900 people to its population over the past year, according to Census Bureau estimates released Thursday, to lead the state in population growth. Oakwood, meanwhile, was again the “leader of the pack” among municipalities in Hall County, increasing by 417 souls since the bureau’s last estimate.

In addition to being Georgia’s fastest-growing city, Hoschton, located in Jackson County, is the seventh-fastest-growing in the country. It’s growth rate was 28 percent. Banks County’s Homer is also among the state’s fastest-growing cities as is Cumming.

Back in Hall County, in addition to Oakwood, the populations of Flowery Branch and Gainesville continued to increase, while there were slight decreases in Lula, Clermont, and Buford, part of which is in Hall County.
