His caretaker charged with stealing from elderly Hall Co. man

A Dahlonega woman has been arrested nearly a year after investigators with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) obtained warrants in an elder exploitation case. Kamiylah Sarai Ealy, 25, faces felony charges of financial transaction card theft, financial transaction card fraud and elder exploitation.

“On Sept. 23, 2025, family members of a 94-year-old Gainesville man contacted HCSO after they found irregularities in the victim’s financial accounts,” sheriff’s office spokeswoman B.J. Williams said Wednesday. “The family members live out of state and discovered the suspicious activity during a visit earlier in the summer. As they researched further, they became suspicious of Ealy, who was a caretaker for the victim.”

Sheriff’s office fraud investigators took over the case the following day. “Over the course of their seven-week investigation, investigators were able to link multiple unauthorized charges on the victim’s financial transaction card to Ealy,” Williams said. “They determined Ealy had made personal purchases from Amazon, Walmart, Kroger and other establishments without the victim’s knowledge.”

Investigators obtained warrants for Ealy’s arrest on Nov. 12, 2025. She was transported to Hall County from the Lumpkin County Jail on Tuesday, posted a bond of $3,250 and was released from custody also on Tuesday.
