HCSO: Traffic stop yields drugs, leads to two arrests

HALL COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:

“A traffic stop in Oakwood Wednesday night, March 27, 2024, led to the arrests of two male subjects on drug charges.

Burnell Gavin McCormick, 19, and Ricardo Acosta, Jr., 18, both of Oakwood, were occupants of the vehicle that was pulled over around 8:30 p.m. in the 4200 block of Woodhaven Lane. A juvenile was also in the vehicle.

During the course of the traffic stop, a Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputy detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. He also noticed some unusual bags in plain sight inside the vehicle. Further investigation led to the discovery of a quantity of THC vape pens, THC candy and evidence of completed narcotic sales. Investigators also seized $2,000 in cash. Estimated street value of the THC products was $200.

As a result of the investigation, McCormick and Acosta were charged with possession of THC oil with intent to distribute. At this time, both are being held without bond at the Hall County Jail. The juvenile was turned over to juvenile authorities.”
