HCSO: The pieces fit, the deputy got an admit

Pieces of plastic found at the site of a traffic accident in East Hall over the weekend and a bit of detective work by a Hall County deputy sheriff led to the arrest of a Gainesville man on a number of traffic charges including DUI.

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:

“Josue Angel Hernandez, 19, of Gainesville, was charged with DUI/under age 21, duty to stop upon striking fixture and failure to maintain lane (all misdemeanor charges) following a single-vehicle crash on Saturday, Dec. 23, on Nature Walk Drive near Gillsville Highway.

A Hall County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to the scene just before 9:30 a.m. to investigate what was described as a traffic hazard. When he arrived, he found a light pole had been knocked down by an apparent vehicle crash. He found pieces of plastic from a red vehicle in the area of the crash site.

The deputy canvassed the neighborhood and found parked in front of a residence a red passenger vehicle with front end damage consistent with the crash. The deputy made contact with the vehicle owner – Mr. Hernandez – inside the home. Mr. Hernandez acknowledged he had been in an accident around 2 a.m.

The subsequent investigation led to the charges against Mr. Hernandez. There is no indication he was injured in the crash.”
