A 19-year-old Dawsonville man is free on bond following his arrest Monday on several traffic charges following an incident that occurred Jan. 20 at Chicopee Woods Golf Course, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).
HCSO NARRATIVE:
“Aiden Joshua Jone…was arrested Monday…in Dawson County. He was turned over to Hall County authorities the same day and booked into the Hall County Jail on misdemeanor charges of reckless stunt driving, reckless driving, hit and run/leaving the scene of an accident and obstruction of an officer.
The initial investigation in the case began on Jan. 21, when the owner of a used vehicle dealership on Atlanta Highway contacted law enforcement to make a report of a hit-and-run crash involving one of his vehicles. The investigation determined Jones and another adult male had taken three vehicles from the dealership on test drives. All vehicles were returned, but one of the cars sustained extensive damage before it was returned to the dealership. Jones had come to the business to admit to the damage, saying he felt guilty, but he told the responding deputy that the other man had wrecked the vehicle.
Further investigation by the Hall County Accident Investigation Unit (AIU) determined Jones had lied to the deputy. AIU investigators were able to determine that Jones was the driver at the time the vehicle was damaged. The investigation indicated Jones, with the other man as his passenger, had driven the vehicle to the parking lot of Chicopee Woods Golf Course. Jones began “doing donuts” and “laying drags” in the parking lot. He lost control of the vehicle and crashed the vehicle on a curb, doing an estimated $8,000 in damage to the car.
Jones was released from jail (Tuesday) morning on a bond of $10,150.”
