Hall County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Gainesville woman on a hit-and-run charge less than two hours after a Friday collision on Sardis Road.
HCSO (HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE) NARATIVE:
“Deputies responded to the two-vehicle crash at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Sardis Road near Price Way. According to the preliminary investigation, Jackson Paul Skelton, 18, of Gainesville, was driving southeast on Price Road in a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe and merged right onto Sardis Road to travel south. Skelton rear-ended an SUV that was stopped on Sardis Road behind a vehicle attempting to turn left into a gas station parking lot. The driver of the SUV Skelton hit left the scene in her vehicle.
Skelton suffered what deputies described as a minor hand injury. Hall County Fire Rescue responded and evaluated him. Skelton refused further treatment, and deputies issued a verbal warning.
After speaking with Skelton and witnesses, deputies identified the suspect vehicle as a 2014 Kia Sorento registered to a nearby address. Deputies went to the residence in the 4500 block of Yearling Court and identified the driver as Michelle Alvarado, 28. She was arrested at the home without incident and charged with duty to stop at an accident (hit-and-run), a misdemeanor.
Deputies transported Alvarado to the Hall County Jail for booking. She posted $5,700 bond and was released from jail Friday night.”
