A Gainesville woman was arrested late Tuesday night in connection to a hit-and-run traffic accident on I-985 in the Oakwood area.
Deputies with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) were dispatched around 11:30 p.m. to a convenience store on Mundy Mill Road just off the northbound ramp from the interstate. When they arrived, they found two officers from the Oakwood Police Department with the driver of a Chevy Trax who had apparently struck a Jeep Wrangler on the interstate just south of the Mundy Mill exit and then fled the scene. The three occupants of the Wrangler were not injured.
The preliminary investigation determined the at-fault driver, identified as Mya Danielle Levels, 33, pulled into the convenience store parking lot following the collision and attempted to discard a partially-consumed bottle of wine. Following questioning at the scene, deputies charged Levels with DUI, open container violation, duty to stop at accident, hit-and-run and following too close.
Levels posted a bond of $11,660 and was released from the Hall County Jail Wednesday afternoon.
