A man who was attacked by a woman wielding a hatchet was seriously injured, according to Hall County authorities.
HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE NARRATIVE:
“Rachel Michelle Millwood, 40, was arrested Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024, following a domestic altercation on Atlanta Highway in Gainesville.
The preliminary investigation determined Millwood and an adult male victim had a verbal argument that turned physical. Millwood struck the victim in the head with a hatchet, causing severe injuries that placed him in the hospital. The incident occurred around 7:40 p.m. behind a laundromat in the 300 block of Atlanta Highway.
When a Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputy arrived at the scene, Gainesville Police Department officers were already there and advised the victim had been transported to the hospital. Ms. Millwood had been detained by GPD at a location on Lyman Street. She was arrested by deputies and charged with aggravated assault.
At this time, there is no information on what led to the argument.”
