HCSO: Easter burglary suspect arrested

The suspect in a burglary that happened Easter afternoon was arrested within hours of his crime, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE NARRATIVE:

“Brandon Lee Ergle, 43, of Gainesville, was arrested Sunday, March 31, in connection to a burglary at a residence on Cove Road.

The owner of the residence called 911 around 5 p.m. to report she could see someone inside her home via her security camera system. The suspect left the residence before the homeowners and deputies arrived at the scene. An initial inventory of the residence showed a checkbook missing from a purse the homeowner had left at the house. Various tools were also missing. In addition, there was some interior damage to the residence.

Footage from the security cameras was used to identify a possible suspect vehicle, which led deputies to identify Ergle and obtain a warrant for his arrest. Ergle and his vehicle were spotted by a patrol deputy several hours later – around 9:15 p.m. – at a convenience store on Atlanta Highway and Memorial Park Drive.

Ergle was arrested and charged with burglary in the first degree. He remains jailed with no bond.”
