HCSO: Car thief runs out of gas, now he’s in jail

A Gainesville man remained in the Hall County Jail early Tuesday afternoon after being arrested Sunday night when the stolen car he was driving — ran out of gas, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) says.

HCSO NARRATIVE:

“…deputies responded to a stolen vehicle report in the 2000 block of Chicopee Trail Drive. While deputies were on the way to the call, the driver of the stolen car failed to yield for a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) traffic stop.

Deputies then parked roadside around U.S. 129/Athens Highway and the Jackson County line. A short time later, the stolen vehicle, a Honda Civic, ran out of gas on Athens Highway, and deputies apprehended the driver, identified as Kevin Rodriguez-Marin, 21, Gainesville.

Deputies obtained an arrest warrant for theft by taking (felony) for the stolen car. GPD handled the traffic citations.

Rodriguez-Marin is being held in the Hall County Jail on $10,334 bond.”
