Hall County Fire Rescue (HCFR) earned top honors recently at the annual Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation luncheon and awards banquet for raising the most money statewide during the foundation’s annual “Give Burns the Boot” campaign.
“Every dollar raised comes directly from…citizens,” Deputy Fire Chief Bryan Cash said. “No corporate sponsors. No grants. Just residents who believe in their local fire department and the mission of the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation.”
Over three days, HCFR collected $63,493 at various locations across Hall County, with firefighters stationed at intersections, collecting donations in a fire boot from passing motorists.
Every dollar donated goes directly to the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation, which provides aid to burn survivors, supports burn centers, promotes fire and life safety education and funds Camp Oo-U-La, a summer camp for children ages 7-17 who have experienced burn injuries.
Hall County has ranked among the campaign’s top fundraising departments for nine of the past 10 years, raising nearly $700,000 for the foundation during that time.
“This level of community support does not happen by accident. It reflects the relationship the department has built with the people we serve,” Cash said. “When the community shows up for us year after year at this level, it tells us something important about the trust they place in us.”
