*The Hall County Commission (HCC) voted Thursday night to opt out of the state’s new tax reform law, joining scores of other local governing bodies around the state that have already done so or are considering doing it. The vote was 4-1 with Commissioner Greg Poole voting “no.”
*An accident involving a car and a tractor-trailer occurred Thursday night on Ga. 400 at the Dawson-Lumpkin county line. One vehicle ended up in the northbound lanes, the other in the southbound lanes.
*Details were sketchy late Thursday night, but a body was found floating in Lake Lanier at Six Mill Creek in Forsyth County earlier in the evening. The Forsyth Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook that there was a “heavy” police and fire presence in that area. It added that the body was found near the boat ramp. No word on whether it was a man or woman.
