A young man authorities say has been trying to enroll in high schools in Gwinnett and Hall counties has also been trying through social media to lure teenage girls to go with him to malls and other places off campus.
He first came to the attention of school officials and police in Gwinnett when he tried to enroll at Seckinger High School but was turned away and warned not to return. Late Tuesday afternoon, Hall County school officials said the same person attempted to enroll at West Hall High School.
“An individual matching (his) description recently attempted to enroll at one of our high schools,” school district spokesman Stan Lewis said. “However, when school officials noted he did not have the proper documentation and that he was not the appropriate age, he was turned away.”
Lewis added that law enforcement and school resource officers have been notified and “all of our schools have been advised to keep watch for this individual and to contact law enforcement immediately should he show up again on any of our campuses.
“We encourage families to talk with their students about online safety, including the dangers of communicating with unknown individuals and sharing personal information. Please remind them to report any suspicious activity to a trusted adult. Additionally, anyone can report a concern to our anonymous tip line on the district web page.”
