Hall middle school chorus makes history

The Cherokee Bluff Middle School’s 7th and 8th Grade Chorus has been selected to perform at the 2025 Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) In-Service Conference. The performance will take place January 31at Athens First Baptist Church.

This marks the first time in ten years that a group from Hall County or Gainesville City Schools has been invited to perform at this event. In fact, the Cherokee Bluff Middle School Chorus is a history-making group – the first choral program from northeast Georgia – encompassing more than 65 schools – to receive this honor. Additionally, they are one of only four middle school choruses in the estate to be selected for this opportunity.

The students will perform a program entitled Hope for Humanity: Building a Better Future which will take the listener on a journey from childhood through the “legacy we leave behind.” It focuses on creating positive change within us “so that we can join together as a community to impact the people around us,” according to the news release announcing plans for the appearance.

In preparation for their GMEA appearance, the chorus will present a special local concert in collaboration with Mill Creek High School on January 27 at 7:00 at Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church. This performance will offer the local community a preview of the exceptional program they will present at the conference.
