Hall GOP defends excluding candidate from recent forum

The Hall County Republican Party is defending its decision not to include State Court Judge candidate Andy Maddox in a recent candidate forum it sponsored- declaring “he is NOT a conservative judge.”

The statement says, in part, “While Mr. Maddox may have voted in republican (open) primaries, this tactic can be used to vote against strong republican candidates. Based on our data Mr. Maddox does not vote for republican candidates.”

Maddox said Thursday afternoon “I proactively reached out to the Hall County GOP to be included in their discussions, and it is unfortunate they were not open to that opportunity.” He added that there is a reason this is a non-partisan election for State Court Judge, “as there is no place for politics in the courtroom.”

MADDOX’S FULL STATEMENT:

“I proactively reached out to the Hall County GOP to be included in their discussions, and it is unfortunate they were not open to that opportunity.

I have been overwhelmed by the positive response throughout Hall County to our campaign.

If anyone has concerns about my voting history, I continue to welcome invitations to speak individually or to any group who is interested in learning about my values and my dedication to the rule of law and to this community.

As I have throughout my 34 years in the legal profession  I remain committed to strictly following the laws of Georgia and the United States Constitution.  There is a reason this is a non-partisan election for State Court Judge, as there is no place for politics in the courtroom.

It is a great honor to have the endorsement of Governor Deal.  A man of great character, and a conservative who has known me for over 30 years.

I am committed to this community and to fairness in the courtroom.  I appreciate and value your support.”
