A Franklin County woman, wanted in Hall County on theft and fraud charges, was behind bars Wednesday morning after being on the run for four months.
HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE NARRATIVE:
“Kathy Jo Wells, 51, of Lavonia was taken into custody Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024, by Hall County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Unit deputies in Franklin County on outstanding warrants for a debit card theft last year.
Arrest warrants indicate Ms. Wells stole a Bank of America debit card belonging to a Hall County victim on Sept. 11, 2023 at a residence on Moon Drive in Gainesville. The victim indicated the card was used for transactions in Commerce, Jefferson and Lavonia. There is no information available on the dollar amount of the fraudulent charges. The victim and Ms. Wells knew one another.
At this time, Ms. Wells remains in the Hall County Jail on charges of financial transaction card theft and financial transaction card fraud. Her bond has been set at $11,400.”
