Hall County is asking residents, property owners, businesses and community organizations to help shape the county’s future through a new survey, interactive map and a series of public meetings tied to the update of the county’s Comprehensive Plan.
The plan guides how Hall County will grow, what it should preserve and what changes may be needed as the population moves toward a projected 292,537 by 2050, spokeswoman Natalae La Douceur said Monday. County officials say community input is essential to understanding priorities, concerns and opportunities across all parts of Hall County.
“The Shape Hall County Community Survey takes about 15 minutes and asks participants what they value today, what isn’t working, what concerns them about the future and what county leaders should consider as they plan ahead,” La Douceur said. “Topics include growth and development, transportation, housing, infrastructure, parks and greenspace, jobs, natural resources, county services and the character of local communities.”
An interactive mapping tool allows residents to pinpoint specific locations where they see opportunities or concerns, such as difficult intersections, areas experiencing rapid growth, places worth preserving or areas that need better connections.
Public meetings begin Sept. 29, giving residents another chance to learn about the plan and share input. All meetings will be held 6:00-8:00.

Planning and Zoning Director Katie Ahmed said, “broad participation is vital.” She noted that this update looks at Hall County as a whole and considers a wide range of issues that may affect communities over the next 20 years.
Feedback from the survey, map and meetings will help shape the final Comprehensive Plan, which is updated every five years but looks much farther into the future.
Residents can participate now by completing the Shape Hall County Community Survey and using the Hall County Interactive Map.
