Habersham wreck victim dies; victim of Forsyth car-pedestrian accident ID'd

*The elderly man injured in a Dec. 21 traffic accident in Habersham County has died. County spokesman Rob Moore says Charles Edward “Ed” Stockton, 80, of Habersham County died today. Stockton, who had been hospitalized since the accident, suffered serious injuries in a three-vehicle crash on Ga. 15 / U.S. 441 at Ga. 17 Alternate (Talmadge Drive) in Hollywood He had remained hospitalized since that wreck.

*Meanwhile, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FSO) said Wednesday the victim of Monday night’s fatal pedestrian accident was a former Gainesville resident, Melissa Brown, 44. Browne died while crossing Keith Bridge Road near Freedom Parkway.

Ken was born in Moultrie, Georgia, and says he knew from the time he was 5 or 6 he wanted to be a “radio announcer.” That dream was realized when he was hired by Moultrie radio station WMTM in 1960 at the age of 15 as a weekend disc jockey. In 2005, he was presented with the Georgia Associated Press Broadcasters Association’s President’s Award for Excellence in Journalism and in 2019 was inducted into the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame.

He lives in Gainesville with his wife of 52 years, the former Sandra McKnight of Clio, Alabama, and they have one child, a daughter, Lisa, who lives in Cumming with her family.
